Coaching

Working with a coach can be a powerful way to uncover your inner greatness and transform your life. You and I work one on one, giving your business and/or personal goals the time and attention they deserve. Each coaching session gives you plenty of time and complete freedom to ask questions, refine your processes, and overcome any obstacles you're facing. We do this in a completely safe atmosphere built on trust, confidentiality, and the joy of accomplishment. I offer both business and personal coaching.

As a coach, I will not play your game for you. Rather, I use a series of questions and strength-building exercises tailored to your unique skills and abilities. This process gives you the individual attention and focus you need to:

  • Define your goals

  • Create a series of easy steps

  • Accomplish each step

  • Reward your progress

My Coaching Philosophy

Imagine your large goals as a distant city that you must reach by walking. If you focus on reaching this city, you'll set out and travel a few miles. By then, your muscles will be sore, your shoes falling apart, and you'll return, defeated, to your starting point.

The good news is that you can indeed reach this city. It's as easy as using the following four-step process:

  1. Agree about what you'll accomplish over the next week (or two). Don't worry about where you've been—It's over. Don't worry about the future—You're here now. Forget about the big destination and focus on taking a single easy step forward. Your coach will help you decide where you are and what needs to be done between coaching sessions.

  2. Decide how to reward yourself for succeeding. This is a very important step because it programs you to associate joy with progress. Pick a specific reward that you'll give yourself if you achieve your weekly or biweekly milestone. This reward need not be expensive or extravagant. It must, however, be creative and meaningful. For example, if you haven't seen a sunset in years, your reward could be as simple as leaving work early one evening to enjoy the twilight splendor.

  3. Complete your milestone. All journeys begin with a single step and continue with an ongoing series of steps. Go ahead, step forward. You'll be amazed how easy it is. Keep focusing on each step as it comes and one day you'll realize that you are getting close to your destination. Just as importantly, you'll realize that getting there really is half the fun.

  4. Enjoy your reward. If you accomplish your milestone properly and time, then you've earned the reward you selected in Step 2. Taking the time to reward yourself for a small step might feel odd at first, but you'll soon start anticipating finishing your current step and looking forward to enjoying your well-earned reward. And if you don't complete the milestone? Simple: no reward. Just as importantly, it is important that you never punish yourself. You've had enough of that in your lifetime.

Be good to yourself!

Take a moment to reflect on the many things you do right today and every day. We're so used to beating ourselves up over perceived failures and shortcomings that many of us have lost our ability to appreciate ourselves for the wonderful people we are. There is greatness within you and immense power. As your coach, I am here to help you unleash that inner greatness to accomplish anything you set out to accomplish. We'll work together to understand your goals and the steps to achieve those goals. I will be right by your side to cheer you on and spot you should you stumble.
